Tuesday Rants & NYC Celebrity Sightings

Hello beauties, and welcome back to my page. I didn't have any specific post plans for tonight so I figured I'd just write about what's been going on in my life lately. Exciting, I know! College has been treating me very well so far, my classes are pretty awesome. I'm taking copy editing, writing for publication, media literacy and digital culture. (You obvi can't tell I'm a Communications major or anything...) Although, digital culture is a bit harder than I had hoped. But whatever, I'll get over it.

My very first issue I contributed to for my college's newspaper came out last week and it was such an awesome feeling. I remember watching Gilmore Girls and imagining how cool Rory's life must've been writing for the Yale Daily News and being part of a real journalistic world and thinking "wow, I really want to do that." Just thinking that I'm getting closer to my dream is a surreal feeling. I can't wait to write more articles and work my way up!

My school's located in probably the most beautiful part of NJ I've ever seen. I'm surrounded by mountains and the scenery is unreal, especially with all the snow. I can't wait to see what it looks like once Spring rolls around and all the trees and flowers bloom. But until then, here's a little peak of what the view from my campus looks like.

Pretty, ain't it?

I've been itching to go to NYC so bad lately, I miss my beautiful city. Like I'm literally having withdrawals... as pathetic as that sounds. Lol! I think the last time I was there was two months ago with my best friends. And what a night that turned out to be, it was celebrity central at Madison Square Garden. Wait, I can't believe I didn't blog about this night before!

OKAY, so my friends Gianna and Victoria and I decided to take a girls trip into the city one cold December day to visit the tree and roam around Times Square. It was the same day as Jingle Ball, so before we took our train back home we wanted to see if we could spot any celebrities outside of MSG before the big show started. Did we succeed? YES WE DID. We stood with about a hundred other people by the entrance, of course barricaded by gates. But we saw Adam Levine, Rita Ora, Emma Roberts, Taylor Swift, Jessie J, Kevin Jonas (Gianna cried), Dr. Oz (yes, you read that right), and get ready for it.... the one, the only, Sarah Jessica Parker. Guys, when I tell you I screamed so loud that the other side of New York could hear me, I'm not exaggerating. Carrie Bradshaw. I breathed the same air as my muse. I may have cried a little too. Unfortunately, I couldn't get pictures of any of the celebs but here are a few pics of my friends and I from that magical day.

Times Square shenanigans.

The twinnies take the city!

Well, this post took a pretty exciting turn that I didn't expect to happen. Haha! Reliving those memories just put a smile on my face. Makes me miss my home besties a little more, can't wait to see them in a couple weeks. Hope you lovelies enjoyed reading this little random rant! Have a great rest of the night. xo

Oscars 2015 Fashion Favorites

Hi there my little bloggers! So like, I've been looking forward to this post since the beginning of the red carpet footage last night. I had a feeling it was going to be super hard narrowing down my favorite looks of the night, and boy was I right. Everyone looked beyond amazing. If there's any time to do it up, it would be at the Academy Awards. I actually enjoyed the show this year as well. I'd usually only watch two hours of it then get bored, but the entertainment was on point this year between the performances and the jokes cracked by the presenters. However, I don't think any Oscar show will be quite as good as last year's. But hey, congratulations to all of the nominees and winners of the night.

Does anyone else feel like the Oscars just shows you how many movies you have yet to see...? I'm curious to see what these films are all about now. I loved Patricia Arquette's acceptance speech and the way she incorporated equality for all women who work just as hard as everyone else. Meryl Streep's reaction was literally priceless. I was totally impressed by Lady Gaga's tribute to the 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music, the girl has pipes. And when Julie Andrews came out... SO CUTE. Talk about a classy lady. John Legend's performance was incredible too, he filled the room with emotion and it was beautiful.

One more thing.... Channing Tatum. AKA the love of my life. I said this about 76 times last night and I'll say it again, I vote him to be next year's Oscars host so he's on stage for more than just 2 seconds. The man deserves an award for just being him. How can someone be so perfect... I can't. I can write a whole novel about him so I'm gonna move on while I can. But first, a Channing Tatum appreciation photo is very much needed. You're welcome.

*insert heart-eye emoji here*
Okay, so now to move on to the Fashion Favorites. I'm gonna get a little more detailed in this post than in my previous ones just because these looks were everything.

Emma Stone: Elie Saab. Emma's been KILLING it on the red carpet this season. She may be my overall best dressed at every award show she's attended this year. My favorite color is green, so this dress immediately caught my attention. I want it.

Jennifer Aniston: Versace. This woman can literally do no wrong. If you were to look up the definition of perfection in the dictionary, Jennifer Aniston should be in there. The detail of her dress was b-e-a-utiful. She doesn't even have to try hard with her hair or face because she's just naturally that pretty. Love love love.

Giuliana Rancic: Mireille Dagher. I am obsessed with everything Giuliana Rancic wears, I'm not even kidding. I watch E! News religiously and if I had to raid any celebrities closet, hers would be the one. I would wear this dress in a heartbeat, I'm a sucker for lace. So classy.

Anna Kendrick: Thakoon. This is something I would totally wear. It's so simple yet has a certain bling-bling to it that makes it oscar worthy.

Rosamund Pike: Givenchy. There was A LOT of positive talk about this dress, and I can see why. The slit is perfect and not too revealing, it fits just right, the shade of red is amazing and the detail is on point. I personally wouldn't wear this because I hate the way strapless dresses look on me, but she can definitely pull it off.

Chloe Grace Moretz: Miu Miu. AH I love Chloe. Everything about this look is adorable and the pockets are a plus. Since she's young, I feel this look is so age appropriate and you can tell she wanted to have fun with it. Slicking her hair to one side was a great touch to it.

Naomi Watts: Armani Prive. Yes girl. This is so edgy for the Academy Awards and I am loving it. I would absolutely wear this. Her hair and makeup was done perfectly for this look as well, I love the short hair/long bob look nowadays. I just cut my hair short and I don't think I ever wanna go back to the length I used to have.

Nicole Kidman: Louis Vuitton. Does anyone else think these two can be sisters? Haha, idk just a random thought. There was some negative talk about the red band of Nicole's dress but honestly, I like it. It makes a simple look stand out a little more and the color of the dress is different. She's so elegant all the time, who couldn't love her?

Chrissy Teigen: Zuhair Murad. I'm in love with the color of this dress. Again, the top portion is lace and I'm obsessed. Although, the slit is a little bit too high for my personal taste but whatever. And I'm diggin' the dark shaded lipstick she's wearing, a color I need to add to my collection.

Cate Blanchett: John Galliano. Idk, I just think this look is awesome. I love black, I'd say 90% of my closet is black clothing. Haha! It just looks good with everything and hey, it's slimming. Points for that. I would totally wear this dress and the statement necklace takes this look to a whole new level. Chic at it's finest.

Reese Witherspoon: Tom Ford. Again, simple but so, sooo pretty. I love the off the shoulder element this dress brings and it fits her perfectly.

Scarlett Johansson: Versace. Talk about EDGY. I love it. Scarlett Johansson is so pretty and I feel like whatever she wears, she's gonna look good in. The necklace is amazing and although some may think it overdoes the look, she rocked it. I think it was a good idea leaving the makeup as simple as possible too since this is such a bold look.

Felicity Jones: Alexander McQueen. I usually don't go for the big, poofier dresses, (is that even a word? Whatev) but this one is gorg. The embellishments on the top are beyond pretty, I love the neckline and the color is stunning. *insert applause emoji*

Lupita Nyong'o: Calvin Klein. I think this girl is so classy and graceful. Pearls were a popular statement on the red carpet last night and this look was a beaut.

Sienna Miller: Oscar de la Renta. Again, a beautiful black dress. I would so wear this one and I love how the bottom of it is sort of see through, makes the look a little more complex.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum: Zuhair Murad Couture. I can't even BELIEVE I included her in my list...... There's a first time for everything. Even though she's married to the love of my life, I gotta give the girl some credit for this look. Such a classic white look and she just looks really polished. And the pop of red lip is perf.

WOW that was a long list! That concludes my 2015 Oscar Fashion Favorites, and this award show post was probably my favorite one yet. Hope you all enjoyed and as always, feel free to share your favorites of the night. Thanks for reading and be sure to keep up with my posts at bloglovin.com/victoriahone. xo

Grammy's 2015 Fashion Favorites

Hey bloggers, welcome back to my page! Is it just me, or does this week feel like it's just dragging on... and it's only Tuesday. Hashtag lol. Anyway, as we all know, the 57th annual Grammy Awards were on Sunday and it was quite a show. I didn't really know who was nominated prior to the show, but I was happy with all the wins. The performances were actually pretty fantastic as well, my personal favorite was Madonna's. I mean, we gotta give the woman credit. She's 56 and she's movin' and groovin' on that stage like she owns it... Catchy new song too. #LivingForLove

Unfortunately, Madonna didn't make my Fashion Favorites list... BUT below are the selected few that did! Again, all of these choices come from personal taste and these are definitely outfits that I'd wear on a red carpet.  If that ever happens. A girl can dream, right?

These are more of the simple looks of the night, but as we all remember from my Golden Globes Fashion Favorites, that's what I prefer. Simple, yet sophisticated and elegant. And the stars ROCKED these looks on the carpet. I'm loving this new jumpsuit trend on the red carpet that some of these celebrities are pulling off, it's super edgy and different.

But...did anyone see the memes that were made about Rihanna's dress? Or Iggy Azalea's hair? I can't... Moving on...

Gwen Stefani in Versace (Best one out of all of them. OBSESSED with this look!)
Katherine McPhee in Pucci
Ariana Grande in Versace
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman in Thierry Mugler
Anna Kendrick in Brand of Outsiders
Taylor Swift in Elie Saab

And that just about does it for my Fashion Favorites: Grammy's edition! Feel free to share your faves as well. I'm sure I'll be back for the Academy Awards because that's pretty much the most glamorous night in Hollywood. Lots of looks to choose from then! Hope you guys enjoyed and I'll see you in my next post. xo

My Everyday Makeup Routine

Hello my beautiful bloggers. Another week has passed by, school's been pretty amazing so far. I've been super busy, which is the reason for my lack of posts lately but I promise I'm not going anywhere. Some cool news- I joined my college's newspaper and I'm pretty excited about it. If you haven't noticed already, I love everything Journalism so this is going to be some great hands-on experience for me.

Tonight's post is probably my most requested from literally everyone I know. My friends and family love the way I do my makeup- it's probably the thing I get most complimented on. I mean, I'm no makeup artist, but I do find it fun to experiment with new looks and see how they turn out. So I'm gonna just show you guys my every day makeup routine through some pictures! I wish I could record it for you, but I don't have the right equipment for that. And truthfully, I don't like the way my voice sounds in recordings. Lol! I'm too shy and awkward. Anyway, my everyday look is really simple and nothing drastic, to be honest. (Beware of the "before" picture. I NEVER take selfies without makeup on so feel special guys). ;)

Before (Completely bare face)
AFTER!

Looks pretty easy, right? I told you it's simple.

The products I used:
Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser
Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Foundation (Shade 105 Classic Ivory)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser
Maybelline Master Duo Eyeliner
Maybelline The Colossal Volume Mascara
Forever 21's Love & Beauty Bronzer and Baked Blush
Maybelline Baby Lips DrRescue Lip Balm
Forever 21's Love & Beauty Velvet Lipstick "Pink Rose"

These products may look a little familiar since I used them in my makeup favorites post as well! I swear guys, if you need an opinion on Maybelline products, I'm your girl because I seem to own every single thing they make. So that's a thumbs up for them!

I'm thinking my next post is going to be my night-time/going out makeup routine, because that look is a lot more dramatic and fun. So until then, have a great rest of the week. I'm going home for the weekend and I'm beyond excited to see my doggies and my best friends, I miss them all so much. Yay for tomorrow being Friday! xo

TBT: The Best Day of My Life AKA Meeting Lauren Graham

Hey bloggers! It's only been a week but it feels like it's been forever since my last post. BUT, I am here tonight for a special story time edition: a throwback thursday to basically the greatest day of my life, meeting my favorite actress (or person in general) Lauren Graham. She's pretty much my idol, to say the least. I've been a fan of hers for years now and I'm still quite upset Gilmore Girls ended. No worries though, I still watch my DVDs religiously and keep up with my Gilmore Girls jargon. Oy with the poodles already, ya know what I'm sayin'? But I mean, it's only appropriate that I do this tonight because the Parenthood series finale is only four hours away. In other words, my life ends in four hours. So let's take a trip down memory lane, shall we?

Alrighty, so basically Lauren was set to star as Adelaide in Guys and Dolls on Broadway in 2009. (I cannot believe it's been six years already). I got a flyer in the mail for the show and immediately begged my parents to get tickets because hello, Lorelai Gilmore? In person? Sold. It came as a surprise to me because I didn't know she could sing, but she can. Amazing. Anyone watch last week's Parenthood? That duet scene with Amber... I can't. I cried. Anywho, I didn't think my dad would agree to buying the tickets so quickly, but he knows how much of a fan I am and he loves me. So bam, tickets acquired. It was all I could talk about for 2 months, and finally the day came. March 21st, 2009.

Now, I honestly was not expecting to actually meet her face-to-face that day because I know how hard that could be sometimes. I was just really excited to go to NYC (duh) and see this show after all the talk I heard about how good it was. Truthfully, there was a little part of me praying that a miracle would happen and that I'd actually get to meet her.

So I went to the show and thought it was fantastic. The performances, songs, costumes, everything was extremely well done. My mom and I had seats on the upper level balcony towards the left, and they turned out to be the perfect seats because down the stairs was an exit where the stars would come out to sign autographs and say hello. I lit up, we were practically the first ones outside to line up at those little gate thingies (are they called barricades?) I don't know, whatev. We were there.

HERE WE ARE! I look 5 but that doesn't matter when there's a pic like this that exists.
I had my playbill and a picture I brought of Lauren and her GG co-star Alexis Bledel to sign just in case there was gonna be a signing. Good move, Victoria. Little did she know, one of my cousins photoshopped the picture and put my face where Rory's was to make it look like I was the one next to her. Call me corny, I don't care. All of the stars were coming out one by one, and I got autographs from Oliver Platt and Kate Jennings Grant, who played Nathan Detroit and Sarah Brown. And then Lauren comes out last, people are screaming at the top of their lungs, me being one of them. LOL.

Here's the signed picture! Sorry for the bad quality, but hey, this is everything.
I suddenly lost all feeling in my body and basically forgot how to talk. Yeah, smooth. What do you EXPECT a person to do when they're about to meet their idol? She was coming around signing playbills and pictures and she's suddenly right in front of me and I'm frozen. My mother is pushing me to say something and I hand Lauren the picture of me and her, she signs it, then does a double take. I swear I remember this as if it were yesterday. She looks at the picture closely because ha, she noticed it wasn't Alexis next to her and looked back at me. Then the magical words come out of her mouth: "Haha, that's a great picture!" I. Almost. Fainted. Lauren Graham noticed my existence. She spoke words to me. I'm done.

I laughed and thanked her for everything. I never knew what it felt like to be starstruck until that very moment and let me tell you, nothing will ever top that. When we were done and on our merry way, I started to hysterically cry the happiest tears of my life and called my dad to tell him what happened. I probably cried the entire day after that, so unreal. To this day I still can't believe I met someone I've looked up to for so long. That will forever be one of my favorite and most cherished memories. All in all, thanks LG for literally making my life.

Okay guys, I gotta go get ready to sob my eyes out while eating a whole pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream by myself as I watch the Parenthood series finale at 10. Why does such an amazing show have to come to an end? I warned my roomies that I'd be a miserable mess for the night... How pathetic am I? G'nite. xo

Time To Be A Big Girl

Well, I'm all moved into college. It still kind of feels unreal, it's definitely something to get used to. My roommates have been the sweetest and so welcoming though, so I'm really happy about that.
Yesterday was full of a million different emotions. I woke up, looked at my puppies and thought "Omg, I can't do this." The nerves were hitting me like a ton of bricks. It was a tear fest leaving them, like I knew it would be. Just the overall thought of leaving everything that I've become so acquainted to is extremely scary. But I got through it, with another little tear fest saying goodbye to my parents, but it turned out to be a great day.
It felt so good taking that first step into the place that's going to lead me into a brighter future. I've never felt more independent, and just thinking of all the opportunities that await me is exciting. But for now, I'm currently hangin' out in my apartment eating some cup o' noodles, so I officially feel like a college kid.
My classes start tomorrow and they're all centered around writing because duh. I'll keep you updated as time goes along my little bloggers. But for now, I must go be a college girl and do college things. Catch ya later. xo

Sunday Funday: Late Night Thoughts

Wow, it's 10:37 pm. I'm  laying in bed, one million thoughts are running through my head. I realized I didn't post anything today so I thought I'd just let you guys know what's on my mind. I've had the busiest two days; last minute dorm shopping, a lunch at my cousin's, a dinner at my aunt's, an unbelievable amount of packing. It's finally starting to hit me that I'm leaving for school tomorrow.  I'm stepping out of my comfort zone; a whole new environment awaits me. I've never been more nervous or excited in my life. It's been a very emotional day, I wanted to spend every waking moment with my mom and my doggies. I cried just posting a picture of them on Instagram today. I'm such a softy. Just the thought of leaving them is the hardest thing in the world. Luckily I'm not too going too far, but tomorrow will be a roller coaster ride full of emotions. It'll be a lot to adjust to, but you can't continue on to the next chapter without closing the last one. Am I right?
I've been thinking of this day for 2 1/2 years and it's finally here. Going away to college is a journey you'll never forget, and I can't wait to start mine.
Goodnight bloggers, sleep tight. xo
